Password Generator
Weak and reused passwords are the top cause of account takeovers. This generator creates strong, random passwords in your browser with your choice of length and character types, and rates each password's strength in entropy bits. Nothing is sent to a server.

How it works
A strong password is a long, truly random one. This generator builds passwords in your browser using the cryptographic random number generator built into modern browsers (the same source security software uses), so results are unpredictable rather than pseudo-random patterns. Strength is measured in entropy bits: with a character pool of size N and a password of length L, entropy is L x log2(N). Using all four character types (94 symbols), each character adds about 6.55 bits, so a 16-character password has roughly 105 bits of entropy, far beyond brute-force reach with current hardware. Length beats complexity tricks: adding four characters does more than adding symbols to a short password, because entropy scales linearly with length but only logarithmically with pool size. The strength meter translates entropy into a simple bar and label. Practical guidance: use at least 14 to 16 characters, a unique password for every account, and a password manager to store them. Nothing you generate here is transmitted or saved; close the tab and the password exists only where you pasted it.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a password be?
Aim for at least 14 to 16 characters with mixed character types, which gives over 90 bits of entropy here. Length matters more than clever substitutions.
What does the entropy figure mean?
Entropy estimates brute-force difficulty in bits: each bit doubles the work. It assumes truly random generation, which this tool uses through your browser's cryptographic random source.
Should I reuse this password on several sites?
Reused passwords turn one site breach into many. A password manager lets you use a unique generated password everywhere without memorizing them.
Are generated passwords stored anywhere?
No. Passwords are generated locally in your browser using cryptographic randomness and are never sent to or stored on any server.
